Was wondering if you use a chemical to remove all the old finish or mechanical means? I’ve got a 19th century grandfather clock with a similar crack in the base part of the case. Hoping to restore the whole clock and not sure yet whether I’ll be able to close the crack via glue and clamp or to fit a tiny long wedge of similar material then sand. Might like to consult with someone on your team and possibly pay for advice or services. Thx.

Why were you using the card scraper on the bottom of the plane fro about 1/2 on both ends.

Very nice build. One of the best designs I have seen for a wood build. Did you have trouble with the skate wheels holding up. The bearings rather. I built one a bit before you did from metal. One of two videos on my channel, but I could not keep bearings in them. I did and do use mine a lot. Man they are far more handy than one would think. I could not imagine not having it around. I finally bought a real set of wheels for it. My drive wheel is made of oak. But It is a smooth little machine. I am wanting to do another with a tilt a lot like the house made one.

Get a belt dresser for that edge sander. It would save you a fortune. Never go uphill with an edge sander, but I think you learned that lesson in the out take bit. Great video and a lot better than using an angle grinder which is far too fast.

I haave jest realized that I don't have the belt to run the runner rollers from the motor.... lol thanks

Am I missing something? Surely the point of a flip stop is that you use it flipped down to set the workpiece in the right position, but then flip it up to make the cut, so the workpiece doesn’t get pinched between the blade and the stop block. I love the design and I’ll be making it, but I think you’re missing the point of a flip stop rather than a fixed one 😊

That jointer is a BEAST!

To save on cutting disks cut 1/2 way through on the wide side and elevate one end cut side down and smack it with a sledge hammer on the back side of the cut. it will break at the cut line.
